What 짜 means
By itself, 짜 is one syllable, not a full word. In Korean, its meaning comes from the word it forms: 짜다 can describe food as salty, a person as stingy, or mean to make, plan, or scheme; 짜증 means annoyance.
Hangul was developed to let people write Korean speech. The Hunminjeongeum, a text introducing the alphabet, records its design in 1443; Hangul was promulgated in 1446. This syllable follows Hangul's system for assembling consonant and vowel letters, rather than being a separately invented sign. Unicode's standard breakdown shows its components as ᄍ ᅡ: the initial consonant and the vowel.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
