What 쯕 means
Context tells whether it marks a reading or belongs to a word.
Hangul, the Korean alphabet, arranges letters into syllable blocks; this design dates to the 15th century. The 1448 Dongguk Jeongun, a Korean guide to Chinese-character readings, uses ·쯕 for the entering tone, a historical Chinese syllable class with a clipped ending. That standard largely fell out of use after the 16th century.
쯕다 is recorded in a 1987 study of Chungcheong speech, but the glosses conflict within that account: one example pairs it with 적다 (“few”), while another groups it with 짝다 for “many” or “large.” A 2022 Korean guide writes Vietnamese trực as 쯕, comparing it with 직.

Questions people ask
1Why does 쯕 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
