Hangul syllable Poegs

10308/11172

On a Korean 2-set keyboard, enter the initial, vowel, and final consonant cluster in that order to type 푃. It is a Hangul syllable block, not a standalone word with a standard meaning; “poegs” labels its parts rather than translating a word. Its components can look slightly different across fonts.

What 푃 means

Use Korean input in component order.

On the QWERTY-labelled Korean 2-set keyboard, vhlrt enters initial ㅍ, vowel ㅚ, and final cluster ㄳ: v for ㅍ, hl for ㅚ, and rt for ㄳ. As of 2026, Microsoft's Korean IME composes typed Hangul parts into one block. On a 10-key or custom layout, select the same parts in that order.

The final rt is the snag: ㄳ takes both consonant keys after the vowel. If your app leaves the letters separate, enable Korean input with Hangul composition.

Is 푃 a Korean word?

It is a Hangul syllable block, not a standalone word with a standard meaning.

The label “poegs” describes how the block is assembled: initial consonant, vowel, and final consonant cluster. It is a structural label, not a Korean dictionary word or a translation.

Hangul was devised in 1443; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum followed in 1446. The alphabet was designed to make Korean speech easier to write and learn without relying on Chinese-character literacy. It later served literature, Buddhist translations, practical books, and public life; this block gets any word meaning from its Korean context.

Why does 푃 look different across fonts?

Fonts change its drawing, not which character it is.

Fonts can change the size and placement of the components inside this block. They do not change the character; if your app leaves the letters separate, its input method or renderer may not be composing Hangul.

The modern precomposed Hangul syllable range follows Korea's KS C 5601 character-encoding standard from 1992. Some historical Hangul syllables use sequences of jamo rather than one modern block.

Neutral in Korean writing; unusual as a message on its own.

“Poegs” names the parts; it is not a word translation.

1

Why does 푃 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
