What 폺 means
Hangul groups a syllable’s sound letters into one block.
An opening consonant and a vowel form the core; an ending consonant can follow, sometimes as a pair. Here those parts are ㅍ, ㅗ, and ㄿ. These building letters are called jamo. Unicode forms the name “polp” from their short labels, so it is not a Korean word’s reading. On a Korean 2-set QWERTY layout, v h f v enters 폺.
Hangul was devised under King Sejong in 1443. The 1446 book 훈민정음 explained the new script; its title means “Correct Sounds to Teach the People.” It let Korean be written with letters designed around its sounds instead of relying on Chinese characters.
