What 싣 means

싣 is the base syllable in the Korean verb 싣다. 싣다 means to load or carry something, take passengers aboard, or publish material. The final ㄷ stays before consonant-starting endings, as in 싣고 and 싣는, but changes to ㄹ before vowel-starting endings, as in 실어 and 실으니.

The Hangul alphabet was created in 1443 so Korean could be written directly, beyond Chinese-character methods. Its guide, Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446; in 1894 Hangul became Korea's national script. Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal were older systems that used Chinese characters to write Korean.

1

Why does 싣 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
