What 싢 means
Use a Korean Hangul keyboard and enter ㅅ, ㅣ, ㄴ, then ㅎ.
A Korean input method editor (IME) composes these Hangul letters into 싢 when it supports the final cluster ㄶ.
Some text may show its decomposed Hangul sequence 싢 instead. NFC normalization, a text-normalization form that composes Hangul letters, recomposes that sequence as 싢. Fonts can draw the block differently; the Unicode chart's sample is a reference, not mandatory artwork.
What does 싢 mean?
It is a Hangul block with no standalone meaning as of 2026-09-13.
Hangul combines consonants and vowels into written syllables. In 싢, ㅅ is the initial consonant, ㅣ is the vowel, and ㄶ is the two-consonant final. The word around a block determines its role; its composition shows how it is written, not what a word means.
Hangul was devised to write Korean in an alphabetic system alongside Hanja, Chinese characters long used in Korean writing. It was developed around 1443–1444 and formally promulgated in 1446. Some elites resisted its spread before it became the standard script in North and South Korea. That history belongs to Hangul, not an origin story for 싢.
