What 턴 means
In Korean, 턴 means “turn” in terms such as 턴제. 턴제 is the Korean term for turn-based play. By itself, 턴 does not identify what kind of turn is meant; the surrounding phrase supplies that context.
Hangul groups its sound parts, called jamo, into syllable blocks. 턴 combines ᄐ (an initial consonant), ᅥ (a vowel), and ᆫ (a final consonant).
Hangul was designed to write Korean speech directly and widen access to reading. A court record reports the creation of its 28 original letters in 1443; the 1446 guide Hunminjeongeum explains their sounds and how the parts combine. Those dates belong to Hangul's history, not to this individual syllable.

1Questions people ask
1Why does Korean typing show separate letters first?
That's normal: the Korean keyboard can show the consonant and vowel as you type, then combine them into one Hangul syllable block when the sequence is complete.
