What 턳 means
It is a syllable, not a word with one fixed definition. Hangul was created under King Sejong in 1443 and introduced in 1446 with Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the alphabet. It let Koreans write without mastering Chinese characters; earlier systems, Idu, Hyangchal and Gugyeol, adapted them for Korean.
턳 joins three jamo (Hangul letters): ㅌ ㅓ ㄳ. Unicode decomposes the syllable into these parts; a font displays them together. The final-consonant slot at the bottom of a syllable block is called batchim.
