hangul syllable tweogs

Hangul syllable Tweogs

9804/11172

To type 퉋, enter initial ㅌ, vowel ㅝ and final cluster ㄳ in that order with a Korean IME. Unicode’s label “tweogs” names those parts rather than translating a Korean word; sent alone, 퉋 has no dependable conversational reading.

Text symbol

What 퉋 means

Use a Korean IME: ㅌ ㅝ ㄳ.

On the standard two-set Korean keyboard, type x n j r t (ㅌ ㅜ ㅓ ㄱ ㅅ); the input method combines them into an initial consonant, vowel and final cluster. The Latin label “tweogs” is not a key sequence.

Software may store or display the same parts as separate Jamo (Hangul letters) instead of one block. NFC, Unicode’s Normalization Form C, recomposes a canonically decomposed sequence; font support affects how the result appears.

What does “tweogs” mean?

It labels the syllable’s parts; it is not a Korean word.

Unicode generates this syllable’s name from its initial, vowel and final Jamo: ᄐ is labelled T, ᅯ Weo, and ᆪ Gs. In the Korean block, these correspond to ㅌ, ㅝ and the final cluster ㄳ (ㄱ ㅅ). Those Latin labels describe structure; they are not a pronunciation guide or dictionary translation.

Why does Hangul use syllable blocks?

Hangul groups letters into written syllables. King Sejong created the script in 1443 to make written Korean easier to learn; Hunminjeongeum, a text explaining the new script and its use, appeared in 1446.

Before Hangul, Korean writing used Chinese characters and adaptations such as Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal, which were difficult to learn. Hangul gained official national status in 1894; a 1933 proposal later laid the basis for modern spelling.

Technical and opaque outside Korean text; it reads as a character sample, not a dependable reaction.
