Hangul Syllable Wak

왘 is a Korean syllable, roughly “wahk.” Alone, it has no preset chat reaction; read it in Korean text or ask for context.

Text symbol

What 왘 means

It is one Hangul syllable block: ㅇ ㅘ ㅋ. Read it roughly as “wahk.”

Hangul was devised in 1443 to make Korean writing easier to learn. The Hunminjeongeum guide appeared in 1446; Hangul entered official Joseon documents in 1894.

Possible influence from Phags-pa, a Mongol-era script introduced in 1269, is disputed; resemblance alone does not prove descent. Fonts can draw the block differently without changing its letters.

Neutral as a written syllable; context sets its tone.

A lone 왘 gives no reliable clue to the sender’s mood.

Why is 왘 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
