What ⼜ means
It marks 又 as a dictionary radical.
A radical is a dictionary component. Kangxi number 29 is 又; ⼜ is its index form.
又 began as a hand pictograph. Its oldest forms appear on oracle bones (turtle shells and animal bones used for divination), then in bronze inscriptions, Chu-state bamboo-and-silk manuscripts, and small-seal script, an early standardized script. The “right hand” sense passed to 右; Chinese 又 also means “again” and “also.”

1Questions people ask
1Why does ⼜ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Kangxi Radicals block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
