What 𘭌 means
“Character-18B4C” is an inventory label, not a reading. As of 2025, Khitan Small Script remained only partly deciphered.
What was Khitan Small Script used for?
It was made to write Khitan. Tradition credits Yelü Diela with its creation around 925; a 2026 study argues it was systematized later because the earliest securely dated surviving epitaph is from 1051. Chinese character forms shaped its writing, with Uyghur inspiration also reported. Jurchen rulers used Khitan writing under Jin and modeled their own scripts on it; official use of Khitan scripts ended in 1191.
How did Khitan Small Script form words?
Sound signs clustered to spell words. Other signs stood for whole words.
Khitan text used right-to-left vertical columns; horizontal Unicode layout needs extra support to keep compact clusters together.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘭌 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
