What 𘮔 means
It identifies the sign; its number is not its reading.
Khitan small script mixes signs for whole words with signs for sounds; sound signs can cluster to spell a word. Many sound values remain unknown as of Unicode 18 (2026), so “Character-18B94” is not a pronunciation or gloss for this historical Khitan character.
Khitan prince Yelü Diela devised the script about 925 to record Khitan. Its forms drew on Chinese characters, and accounts also connect its inspiration to Uyghur writing. A scholarly chronology of surviving monuments begins with the 1053 tomb epitaph for Yelü Zongjiao. The script served official and literary life under the Liao and Jin dynasties; the Jin court ended official use in 1191. Jurchen writing later drew on Khitan models.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘮔 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
