What ᰁ means
ᰁ is one Lepcha letter for kl: k followed by l.
Latin-letter kla names the letter; a vowel sign can change its inherent vowel.
One account dates Lepcha script development to around 1720, during Chakdor Namgyal’s rule. It derives from Tibetan; final-consonant marks resemble Kirat/Limbu writing, but influence is uncertain. It was used for teaching, stories, prayers, songs, and religious works. Its use later declined; schools and literary publications also used it.
