What 𑅵 means
It divides sections or signals line continuation. This Mahajani line-continuation mark sits at the start of a line.
Merchants used it in account books, diaries, bills of exchange, and letters. Teaching books from the late nineteenth century preserve this setting.
Descriptions published in 1872, 1875, 1876, and 1882 document Mahajani. It is a northern Indian merchant script in the Landa family and the ancient Brahmi writing tradition. It relates to Sarrafi and Baniauti; Kaithi and Devanagari influenced it, but it is not Devanagari shorthand. Specimens distinguish Delhi and western Indian forms from those in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
