What 𝓔 means
In HTML, use 𝓔; in a CSS string, use \1D4D4 .
𝓔 is the bold-script capital E. In a formula, the author defines what it stands for; its style can distinguish it from another E. A 1999 proposal described these mathematical alphabets as already used by scientific and technical publishers. Unicode 3.1 encoded them so plain text could preserve those distinctions. NFKC compatibility normalization folds 𝓔 to plain E, erasing that distinction. The exact script shape can also vary by font.

1Why does 𝓔 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
