What 𝐠 means
It marks a distinct math symbol; the formula supplies its meaning.
In 1901, Edwin Wilson used bold type in a textbook about vectors—quantities with direction and size—to distinguish them from scalars, which have size only. Later writers used bold for other mathematical distinctions. The STIX project, run by scientific and technical publishers, extended older letter-like math symbols into wider alphabets; Unicode accepted its mathematical-alphabet proposal in 1999.
Mathematical and notation-dependent.
Bold alone does not mean vector.

1Questions people ask
1Can NFKC turn 𝐠 into plain g?
Yes. NFKC, a compatibility-normalization form, reduces math-style letters to ordinary ones: 𝐠 becomes g and loses its bold distinction. That can change a formula’s meaning.
