What 𝙶 means
It’s the Latin capital G in a mathematical fixed-width alphabet.
In an equation, type style can distinguish one variable from another; the equation, not this character alone, supplies the variable’s meaning. The fixed-width look has a practical predecessor in typewriter lettering: each keystroke advanced the paper by the same step. The mathematical alphabets became separate Unicode characters in 2001 after a multi-year effort with scientific and technical publishers, allowing formulas to preserve those style distinctions in plain text.
Outside formulas, the same characters let plain-text posts mimic font styling. As of 2026, Unicode’s math guidance also notes occasional attempts to use them to get around keyword filters.
How do I type 𝙶?

1Why does 𝙶 turn into G?
A text processor may apply compatibility normalization: NFKC and NFKD map mathematical letters to ordinary Latin letters and discard the style. Unicode warns against using those forms on mathematical text.
