What 𝒫 means
Math notation can give letter styles distinct meanings. Calligraphic letters were already used in formulas before Unicode. A 1999 proposal sought separate text characters for mathematical alphabets, so plain text could preserve distinctions that typography alone might lose.
The Unicode chart does not prescribe one exact drawing: different mathematical fonts can give script letters such as 𝒫 different calligraphic shapes.
Mathematical notation; the calligraphic style can distinguish it from plain P.

1Why does 𝒫 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
