What 𖩚 means
It is a Mro letter, not a standalone word.
𖩚 writes the Mro consonant “l”; by itself, it does not translate a whole word. The 2009 Unicode proposal says Mro usually uses 𖩍 (Ol) for this sound, while 𖩛 (La) and 𖩚 (Lan) occur in a few words.
Why was the Mro script created?
It gave Mro a script and was tied first to Krama.
Menley Mro created the alphabet in the 1980s alongside Krama, a religion with its own social codes. Before the alphabet caught on, Mro was mainly transmitted through speech, though some Christian Mro writers used Roman letters in limited contexts. Krama followers learned the script to write those codes; it later spread into broader Mro education and communication. By 2026, Mro books and online posts used it. Mro was invented independently, not adapted from an older script.
Why does 𖩚 show as a box?
The font or app cannot draw the Mro character.
Its Unicode number is outside the basic set of characters, so some fonts and older input tools cannot handle it. The font also needs to include Mro letters. A box or question mark points to missing display support.
Inside Mro spelling, Lan is a word-specific letter choice; outside that language, its name alone gives no word meaning.
“Lan” names the letter; it does not translate a Mro word.
