What 𛋫 means
Pronunciation of 𛋫: tciang33.
Nüshu signs represent syllables and may stand for local words that sound alike; surrounding text identifies the intended word.
Was Nüshu only used in private?
No; women also sang Nüshu texts together.
Nüshu developed among Jiangyong women to write local Chinese speech, adapting Chinese character forms and adding new signs.
An inscribed Taiping Heavenly Kingdom coin (1851–1864) is the earliest known artifact; its Nüshu line means “women everywhere are sisters in one family.” A local report describes the script in 1931. In traditional Nüshu practice, women exchanged intimate letters and life histories, sang texts at weddings, and embroidered characters on cloth. Since the 1980s, research and local heritage teaching have brought the tradition into public view.

1Why does 𛋫 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
