What 𛋬 means
One Jiangyong syllable, not one fixed word.
Its local pronunciation is written tchiang21; nearby words tell readers which homophone is meant.
Why did women write Nüshu?
It let Jiangyong women write local speech and share texts.
Women in Jiangyong used it for songs, letters and wedding booklets exchanged among sworn sisters. Many had little access to education in Chinese characters. Nüshu forms grew from Han Chinese characters but mainly record sounds. The earliest surviving object is a coin from China’s Taiping Rebellion (1851–64); the earliest known written account dates to 1931. Since 1982, preservation has shaped its public role. As of 2021, its origin remained disputed.

1Why does 𛋬 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
