What means
IP represents the p consonant in Bhumij.
Ol Onal charts group consonants by the first vowel in their names: IP sits in the I row, but I is not an extra sound.
Mahendra Nath Sardar developed Ol Onal between 1981 and 1992. In 1992, the Odisha-based Adim Bhumij Samaj approved it after a writing-system contest. Bhumij had also been written in Odia, Bengali, Devanagari, and Latin. The name joins ol (“draw”) and onal (“shape or diagram”). By 2022, teaching and print used capital Ol Onal forms; lowercase Galang Onal had fallen out of use. The script appeared in Bhumij rituals, banners, inscriptions, wedding invitations, and wall paintings.

Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
