What ⨧ means
⨧ is nim-addition, also called nim-sum. Convert values to binary; add matching digits modulo two, ignoring carries.
Charles Bouton analyzed Nim, a heap-removal game, in 1901. Sprague–Grundy theory, developed in 1935–1939, extended the method to other games where both players have the same legal moves. Conway's 1976 book On Numbers and Games connected nimbers—values assigned to game positions—with broader game and number theory.
