What ⸅ means
It closes the dotted span for a second wording. In this New Testament notation, ⸄ opens the span and ⸅ closes it. The dotted pair marks another multiword wording in the same verse, after the solid ⸂…⸃ pair; ⸀ and ⸁ cover the corresponding single-word case.
Nestle, a New Testament editor, introduced these marks to show differences between manuscript readings; scholarly publications later used them. An apparatus criticus is the set of editorial notes that records those differences and explains the alternative wordings.
