What 𑇘 means
Sharada became distinct as a script in the eighth century. It developed from Gupta Brahmi through Kutila. The earliest record is disputed: a Hund inscription dated 774–775 CE or Utpala-dynasty coins from the 9th–10th centuries. As of 2026, neither gives this digit a first date.
Sharada was Kashmir’s main literary and inscriptional script. The Bakhshali manuscript, a birch-bark Sanskrit mathematical text, was written in Sharada; Gurmukhi and Siddham are related scripts.
In the 19th century, Arabic-script use for Kashmiri and growth of Devanagari marginalized Sharada. As of 2026, Kashmiri Pandit use is limited to horoscopes and rituals.

1Why does 𑇘 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
