siddham repetition mark-2

Siddham Repetition Mark 2

In Siddham, also called Bonji in Japanese Buddhist practice, 𑗇 tells a reader to repeat preceding text. A vertical Sanskrit Buddhist text uses it in repeated phrases; “2” distinguishes it from the number two.

What 𑗇 means

It repeats the text immediately before it. A vertical Sanskrit copy of the Buddhist chant Uṣṇīṣa Vijaya Dhāraṇī uses it in strings such as “jaya jaya, vijaya vijaya, smara smara.” Siddham grew from Brahmi-based writing, is especially close to Sharada, another Indian script, and carried Sanskrit Buddhist texts across Asia. As of Unicode 17.0.0, its main living setting is ritual writing in Japan’s Shingon and Tendai Buddhism.
