The Ohio Scientific airplane character came from its CG-4 graphics chip, which stored game pictures as characters. The company’s 1978 journal lists planes, tanks, race cars and houses as game pieces; programmers could choose among eight tank directions instead of drawing each dot. This small plane occupied slot F0.
Why might it appear as a blank box?
The font may not include its airplane glyph.
This is a text character, so the app needs a font that includes its picture. Without one, you may see a blank box or substitute; that display fallback does not change which character is present.
