What ㍗ means
So a unit name fits in one character's space.
Japanese is set on a grid where every character fills the same square. Written out, ワット takes three squares; the squared form, called 組文字 (kumimoji, "assembled characters"), stacks the small kana inside one. Japanese computer makers, NEC above all, added a set of these unit squares, including (milli), (kilo), (metre) and ㍗ (watt). Windows' Japanese encoding and the JIS X 0213 standard kept them, and Unicode took them in so old Japanese files convert without loss.
Read it simply as "watto", meaning watt. Because it is a legacy form, some fonts lack it, and search engines and text tools often treat it as plain ワット.
Neutral and technical, a print and table convenience; it looks old-fashioned in casual writing, where ワット or W reads more naturally.

3Questions people ask
2Is ㍗ the same as W?
In meaning, yes. Both are the watt; ㍗ is a Japanese typographic form, W the international symbol used everywhere.
Why does ㍗ turn into ワット when I search or paste?
Many tools apply Unicode compatibility normalization (NFKC), which unpacks ㍗ into the three ordinary kana ワット. The meaning stays the same.
