What 𖪣 means
It is /ŋ/, the “ng” at the end of English “sing.” The tongue closes against the soft palate as air flows through the nose. In Muishvung, 𖪣 begins a syllable and 𖪐 ends it.
Who uses Tangsa, and how has the script developed?
Its use remains centered on Muishvung. Lakhum Mossang began developing the script in 1990 to write his native variety and promoted it for literacy and cultural preservation. A 2019 revision added letters for other Tangsa varieties. Tangsa varieties span India and Myanmar. As of 2026, some Indian schools teach the script for Muishvung; other varieties use it less widely.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𖪣 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 14.0 (2021), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
