What 𖩹 means
As of September 2026, Keyman lists a Tangsa Lakhum browser keyboard.
What sound does Tangsa letter Vc make?
𖩹 is a short, schwa-like vowel carrying tone 3 in Muishvung.
A schwa is a relaxed central vowel, roughly like the first sound in English “about.” The C comes from Reverend Gam Win’s Latin-based spelling system: in Muishvung it labels tone 3, usually mid-high level or rising. Other Tangsa varieties realize tones differently; in Rera, the corresponding tone is low.
A vowel letter follows the consonant that opens its syllable, and the vowel glyph carries the tone. The V series was added in a 2019 revision to distinguish this shorter sound, approximately /ə/, from the longer /a/-like A vowel.
It began as a newly designed Tangsa alphabet
Lakhum Mossang created the Tangsa alphabet in 1990 for Tangsa varieties spoken in northeastern India and northwest Myanmar. A 2013 Unicode proposal describes it as newly constructed, with no historical descent from an existing script.
Mossang intended it for diverse Tangsa varieties, but it was first used for Muishvung (Mossang). The Tangsa Script Development Committee promoted it publicly at the Pangsau Pass Festival in January 2020; Latin-based spellings continue alongside it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𖩹 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
