What 𗃣 means
Its dictionary gloss is “to remain” or “stay.” The reconstructed reading is conventionally written rjir; the numeric label identifies the character but does not translate it.
The Tangut script was created about 1036 for the Western Xia state, to write the Tangut language and support a distinct political identity; it also carried a collection of Buddhist texts. The earliest Tangut document passed down to us is dated 1072.
Is 𗃣 Chinese?
No. It is a Tangut character.
Tangut writing drew on visual principles from Chinese writing and followed the example of the neighboring Khitan people's writing system, but it remained distinct. Tangut texts continued after Western Xia fell; an inscription from 1502 shows use beyond the dynasty.
Historical and specialist: it fits Tangut study or font work, not casual messaging.
A box means the font lacks this glyph; the character itself has not changed.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗃣 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
