What 𗃤 means
No settled English gloss is recorded as of 2026.
The scholarly notations me̱², ²mi'₁, me², and mʷɪɦ² are reconstructed readings, not translations.
Tóngyīn (“Homophones”), a 12th-century reference that groups characters by sound, also records it. Modern concordances index it as L3416.
Is 𗃤 Tangut or Chinese writing?
It is Tangut writing from Western Xia, not Chinese writing.
The Tangut script was commissioned around 1036 for Western Xia’s language and used in schools, government, diplomacy, and Buddhist translation. Its strokes can resemble Chinese forms, but it belongs to a distinct writing system.
Historical Tangut writing; the character is displayed as text through the reader’s font.
A resemblance in its strokes is not an English translation.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗃤 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
