What 𗉳 means
It means “hoe” in Tangut.
The Tangut script was created around 1036 for the Western Xia state, including a Buddhist canon and a distinct political identity. Its makers followed the earlier example of the Khitan, another people with a state script, while keeping Tangut distinct from Chinese. A Tangut text titled “Homophones,” attested in the 12th century, contains the character; this does not establish when this exact form first appeared. After Western Xia fell, the script continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties before becoming obsolete.
What does it mean when someone sends 𗉳?
Treat a bare 𗉳 as a Tangut-script reference.
Tangut can look like Chinese writing, but it is a separate script. Without a Tangut passage around it, a recipient may recognize an unusual historical character without knowing its “hoe” gloss.
Historical and scholarly; standing alone, it has no dependable chat tone.
A bare 𗉳 does not tell you the sender means “hoe” as a reaction.
