What 𗍎 means
𗍎 is a Tangut color word for dark blue-green.
The Sea of Writing, a Tangut dictionary, lists it at entry 27.251 in the 12th century. Tangut writing was created under the first emperor of Western Xia, a kingdom in northwestern China, around 1036 for official and cultural work, including Buddhist translations.
Translations range from deep blue to teal or turquoise; these are different choices for one Tangut word. Tangut is its own writing system, with characters that carry meaning and sound, even when their shapes remind readers of Chinese characters.
What does 𗍎 mean when someone sends it?
Read it as a reference to Tangut writing.
Someone familiar with Tangut texts can read it as a color term; sent alone, it may be an unfamiliar character or a fallback box. Ask what Tangut word or passage the sender has in mind.
Why does 𗍎 show as a box?
A missing Tangut font can produce a fallback box.
As of 2026, a device without a Tangut-capable font may show a box instead of the glyph; the character remains in the text. Noto Serif Tangut or another Tangut-capable font can display it.
Historical and scholarly: it belongs in Tangut texts, language study, or research on color terms.
Without Tangut context, a recipient may not recognize the character or its color meaning.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
