𗍓 is a Tangut character for a verb meaning “to repent”—to turn away from wrongdoing. Tangut writing was created for the Western Xia state around 1036 and used in government, books, inscriptions, and Buddhist texts. In a modern chat, this historical character is unlikely to read as a clear apology.

What 𗍓 means

It means “to repent.”

It names the action of turning away from wrongdoing or feeling remorse. Tangut was the language of the Tangut people; its script was a distinct writing system, influenced in part by Chinese writing but not Chinese script.

The gloss gives a word's sense, not a ready-made modern apology. On its own, 𗍓 needs Tangut context to be understood that way.

Why was Tangut writing made?

It served Western Xia and Tangut cultural life.

Western Xia's first emperor ordered a writing system for the Tangut language around 1036. Scholars including Yeli Renrong shaped it; it was not one person's invention. The script marked the dynasty's identity and carried government records, books, inscriptions, and Buddhist texts.

Tangut writing continued after Western Xia fell to the Mongols in 1227 and during the Yuan and Ming dynasties. A multilingual monument at Juyong Pass, completed in 1345, included Tangut. The script fell out of use by the end of the Ming dynasty.

Is 𘖳 related to 𗍓?

They are related, but their glosses differ.

A Tangut character study groups 𘖳 with 𗍓 in a two-character chain. It glosses 𘖳 as “to realize,” while 𗍓 means “to repent.”

𘠨 is the left-side component in 𗍓's structural description. A component is a written part used to analyze a character, not a translation of the whole word.

Historical and specialist; in a modern message it reads as Tangut text, not a plain apology.

If you mean “I’m sorry,” say so plainly; 𗍓 may not be understood.

Why does 𗍓 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
