What 𗓑 means
In Tangut, 𗓑 is glossed “to guard.”
The scholarly reconstruction is written ²wer₁; it is an estimate of the Tangut reading, not a pronunciation guide that can be sounded out from Latin letters alone.
Where does 𗓑 come from?
The Tangut script entered official use in 1036 as the Western Xia state organized its government and a collection of Buddhist texts.
It was also used for Tangut translations of Chinese texts, including moral, educational, military, and literary works.
A Khara-khoto Tangut manuscript probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Writing continued after Western Xia fell; the latest known example is dated 1502.
How do I type 𗓑?
Use a Unicode escape in code or an HTML character reference.
In source code, use \U000174D1 where the language accepts Unicode escapes; HTML uses 𗓑.
The text can encode correctly yet show an empty box if the selected font lacks Tangut coverage.
Historical and specialist; its standalone gloss names guarding but not the target.
“To guard” does not say who or what is guarded.
