What 𗗬 means
It means “among.”
Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut dictionary gives “among” as the gloss for entry 5949.
The script was created under the first emperor of the Western Xia state about 1036 for official and religious writing, including Buddhist translations. It remained in use after the state fell. As of 2025, the latest Tangut writing with a known date is on two inscribed pillars erected in 1502.
Historical and scholarly; it points to Tangut text, and its shape depends on the font displaying it.
Its Tangut gloss is not a reason to use it as an English substitute for “among.”

Questions people ask
1Is 𗗬 a Chinese character or an emoji?
No. It is a Tangut character, not a Chinese character or an emoji. Tangut writing was modeled on Chinese and Khitan writing, but this glyph is read as Tangut, not Mandarin.
