A square box means the selected font cannot show this Tangut character; choose a Tangut-capable font. Different fonts may draw source-attested variants differently.
What does 𗙂 mean?
A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “drum.”
The Unicode name is built from the code point, so it identifies an index entry rather than translating the word. “Drum” is the English gloss of a Tangut word, not a Mandarin reading.
Why does 𗙂 look Chinese?
It is Tangut, a separate script for the Tangut language.
Tangut, also called Xixia, was created as the state script of Western Xia around 1036. It appears in official records, private writing, and Buddhist texts. The earliest transmitted Tangut document is dated 1072; a stone inscription from 1502 shows the script remained in use after Western Xia fell to Mongol forces in 1227.
Square-shaped Tangut signs can resemble Chinese characters, but Tangut is a distinct script. Scholars compare its design with the Khitan and Jurchen scripts used by neighboring states; that regional comparison does not make 𗙂 a Chinese character.
This is a historical Tangut word with a specialist register, not casual emoji shorthand.
Its square form is Tangut, even though the script resembles Chinese characters.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗙂 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
