What 𗢞 means
In Tangut, 𗢞 is a word glossed as “demon.” A Chinese gloss, 魔, conveys that meaning but is not an interchangeable Tangut spelling. Tangut writing was created around 1036–1037 as the state script of Western Xia. Its earliest surviving document dates to 1072. The script gave the state a written system distinct from Chinese and served official records and cultural works, including Buddhist translations.

魔 translates the meaning; it is not another spelling of 𗢞.
