What 𗢥 means
Li Fanwen’s 2008 dictionary glosses 𗢥 as “captivation by witchcraft.” That is a dictionary translation, not proof that the character itself was used as a charm.
Tangut was created under Western Xia emperor Li Yuanhao around 1036 as part of state-building. The script followed Chinese writing principles and drew on Khitan script traditions while remaining distinct. It served administration, Buddhist translation, and secular writing. Tangut writing continued under Yuan and Ming rule, and the script became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Historical and scholarly; the witchcraft wording comes from a dictionary.
The witchcraft gloss does not prove that 𗢥 itself was used as a charm.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗢥 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
