What 𗥛 means
“Bone” is its meaning in Tangut. A traditional analysis links its parts to signs for “skeleton” and “marrow.”
Is this Chinese or Tangut?
It is Tangut, a script influenced by Chinese writing. Western Xia commissioned it in 1036 for government and Buddhist translation. A Khara-Khoto manuscript probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut texts include literature; the scripts are not interchangeable.
