What 𗦄 means
It is Tangut, a separate script from Chinese. One Tangut lexicon associates the glyph with de̱r², a scholarly transcription of a reconstructed reading, not an English translation. The Unicode name identifies the character; it is not a gloss.
The Tangut script was used by the Western Xia kingdom, also called Xixia. The court promulgated it in 1036 under Emperor Jingzong and commissioned Yeli Renrong to prepare handwriting models. Its square, component-built style drew on Chinese writing conventions, but Tangut is a distinct script.
Tangut writing served government and cultural life: surviving works include Buddhist scriptures, translations from Chinese and Tibetan, Confucian classics, encyclopedias, military treatises, and literature. The script remained in use into the mid-Ming period, after Western Xia fell.
Why does 𗦄 show as a box?
A box means the font cannot draw this Tangut character. 𗦄 is text, so the app draws its shape with a Tangut-capable font. Different fonts can draw the same character differently.
If the app shows a blank square or replacement mark, the font lacks the glyph. The box is a missing-glyph display, not another symbol.
Historical and specialist in feel; standing alone, the glyph gives no sentence context.
Do not read it as Chinese just because Tangut writing drew on Chinese conventions.

1Why does 𗦄 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
