Tangut Ideograph 17A02

2563/6136

𗨂 is translated as “to gain” in Tangut. Tangut writing was created around 1036 for the Western Xia state and Buddhist translations; a Khara-Khoto manuscript, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, shows Tangut writing used to translate a nonreligious text too. Tangut is a distinct script inspired by Chinese writing.

What 𗨂 means

Its dictionary gloss is “to gain.”

Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese dictionary supplies that translation. The character’s three components describe how it is built, not three separate meanings.
