What 𗴈 means
𗴈 means “bear” in Tangut. Its reconstructed reading is written in scholarly notation as dow².
Tangut is a distinct script for the Tangut language. Its characters draw on Chinese writing but are not Chinese characters. Western Xia, a state in northwestern China, created it around 1036 for government, Buddhist texts and state identity, following earlier Khitan scripts.
After Mongol conquest, Tangut writing remained in use through the Yuan and Ming dynasties, carrying Buddhist sutras and Chinese books translated into Tangut. It became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Historical and scholarly; unusual in everyday chat.
A blank box means the font lacks Tangut coverage; 𗴈 remains the character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗴈 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
