What 𗶷 means
JavaScript, CSS, and HTML each use a different escape form.
Write \u{17DB7} in a JavaScript string, \17DB7 in a CSS string, or 𗶷 in HTML. These escapes let generated text contain the exact Tangut character.
What does 𗶷 mean?
It is the non-past stem of Tangut’s verb “to go.”
Here, “non-past” means the verb is not marked as past. A stem is a verb’s base form; 𗶷 is the non-past stem, while 𗶹 is the past stem.
In 1036, rulers of the Western Xia kingdom ordered Tangut writing for government and cultural work. Its characters use some design conventions also found in Chinese writing, but the script records Tangut, a different language. Tangut writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227. A 2025 study identifies two stone pillars in Baoding, dated 1502, as the latest datable Tangut materials known.
Historical and linguistic: this is a verb form in the Tangut writing system.
An empty box means the font cannot draw this Tangut character.

1Why does 𗶷 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
