What 𘄤 means
Use hexadecimal Unicode input if your system supports it.
Enter U18124 with the method your operating system provides. If your system has no Tangut input method, use a character picker or input method that includes Tangut. Older CJK-mapped Tangut encodings are a separate format and may need conversion before becoming Unicode text.
What does 𘄤 mean?
It names a category of saying, not a specific aphorism.
A Tangut dictionary glosses the word as “aphorism.” Tangut was created about 1036 CE under Western Xia’s first emperor to write the Tangut language. It appears in official, private, and religious texts, including books, sutras, inscriptions, and manuscripts. After Western Xia fell to the Mongols, the script continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties but was obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Why does 𘄤 look Chinese?
Tangut uses square characters to write the Tangut language.
Its characters can resemble Chinese ideographs, but Tangut is a separate script, not Chinese writing. In one structural analysis, 𘤷 sits on the left and 𘢌 in the middle of 𘄤. These components describe the written form; they do not translate the word.
A historical Tangut word, chiefly relevant in Tangut language and script contexts.
