What 𘗧 means
It means “to marry” in Tangut. The 12th-century dictionary Sea of Writing records this reading. Tangut was the language of the Western Xia state in what is now northwestern China.
The script was commissioned in 1036 to express the state’s identity and support Buddhist texts. Tangut writing also carried Chinese translations and nonreligious works; it remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties. It resembles Chinese writing but is a distinct script, developed after neighboring Khitan scripts.
