What ➣ means
From ITC Zapf Dingbats, a classic font of printer's symbols. Unicode's Dingbats arrows were closely modelled on that typeface, which is why ➣ sits beside scissors, pencils and check marks. A dingbat is a practical or decorative print symbol; the word goes back to at least the early 19th century.
Unicode fixes only the idea: a shaded arrowhead pointing right. Each font draws its own version, so on your screen the shading may look different or the arrow may appear flat.
Neutral and layout-minded: it reads as a pointer or list bullet, not an emotional reaction.
