What → means
Its meaning depends on what it connects. Read → as direction, sequence, or consequence.
An early documented use appears in a 1737 book on water engineering: arrows show water flow and wheel rotation. In 1922, mathematician Hilbert used an arrow for logical implication—“if this, then that.” These uses show the shift from physical direction to abstract relationships.
→ makes a message read like a diagram.
Right-to-left text does not automatically reverse →; choose the intended direction.

1Why does → show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
